Camels join Ellon for nativity parade
This Monday saw see a visit of three camels to Ellon to take part in a special nativity service accompanied by all the Ellon primary schools as well as the band and a drama group from the academey. EBC's PA team organised (and made a GREAT job of) the PA on the day and Rev Jim shared a short Christmas message with the scholchildren and people of Ellon in an event which got much local and national, press. What an amazing opportunity to share the wonderful message of the birth of our glorious Saviour, our Lord Jesus Christ, with so many people.
The parade left from the Victoria Hall and made its way along Station Road and Bridge Street before arriving at the Market Street car park. Members of the public thronged the two bridges to view the event.
The camels, sourced from a specialist UK company, were accompanied by handlers on a route through the town in line with the company’s own risk assessment procedures.
The ceremony opened with a welcome from Auchterellon Primary head Morag McGowan, the organiser of the event, with a communal performance of ‘O Come All Ye Faithful’. The nativity story was then led by Rev Jim Clarke before a rendition of ‘Away in a Manger’ and Rev Peter Mander of St Mary's conducted a blessing before a communal performance of ‘We Wish You a Merry Christmas’ and the conclusion of the ceremony.
