Re use, Re cycle

Re used : 47 year old Stewart and Elizabeth Gerrie are on a mission .. literally. The couple, members of Ellon Baptist Church, spent three months at All-Nations Christian College in preparation for going to Liberia, West Africa, in October 2011 on a voluntary and permanent basis.

The former Quantity Surveyor and Vocational Trainer have come to the end of an application process spread over 3 years to work with SIM (Serving In Mission). At the invitation of the Liberian based organisation that SIM partner with, Stewart is to take up the role of construction supervisor and Elizabeth will be involved in personnel, pastoral and social care.

Liberia is in the process of rebuilding after a 14 year long civil war, and it is hoped that the couple will assist the church in Liberia to continue its journey to restoration. Based just outside Monrovia, Stewart will help to rebuild and renew facilities for ministry, hospital, dental clinic, schools etc.

Formerly serving in Swaziland 20 years ago, Stewart and Elizabeth see their appointment as a continuation (recycling) of that call on their lives by God. Both are looking forward to the privilege of being involved in bringing God’s love in word and deed to the people of Liberia.

They recently spent a few months studying at allnations bible college from November to March in preparation.

See recent article in local paper The Ellon Times.
